Kaleidoscope Star – Lesson 2
After much procrastination on my part, Lesson 2 is done!
I decided to consolidate my two blogs (quilting and web design) into one and go for a new look. I originally intended to use this graphical theme on Hobby Stash but decided it was more suited for Dufresne Designs. The two sites illustrate how you can take the overalll structure of a Wordpress blog and totally change the look by the graphical overlays.
At the same time, I decided to take the leap and upgrade to Wordpress 2.7. What an awesome admin interface. It is somewhat confusing initially, as it is totally different from previous versions. But once you get the hang of it, there are some real time savers. My biggest issue has been trying to figure out the various plug-in configuration locations. Some of them are downright hard to locate.

I actually started out with Electic Quilt 5 and upgraded to version 6 earlier this year. I had the program for awhile but got frustrated because the buttons and screens were confusing at times. I purchased Fran Gonzalez’s EQ5 Simplified and it opened up a whole new world in quilt design for me. I can’t recommend it enough. She walks you through creating some pretty amazing quilts using the programs features and extensive block library. Each lesson builds to the next and by the time you’re done you are anxious to create your own. My Rating:

A couple of months ago I joined a wonderful online quilters’ group at AllOurQuilts.com. The site has been online a relatively short period of time and is growing by the day.
I’ve finally consolidated all the various blogs on Hobby Stash into one with a new look. I plan to do the same with this site as time permits.
Yahoo…new Traditional Therapies design is in place. It’s still a static html design but plan to transition to php after server reorganization.
