Creating Cool and Interesting Backgrounds on the web w/ CSS
I used this technique to create the background effect on hobbystash.com. The background uses the x axis background repeat and the container (middle section) uses the y axis. I feathered the sides of the sides of the mddle section for a softer effect.

tutvid.com
While cruising You Tube, I ran across some great Adobe tutorials created by Nathaniel at tutvid.com. His tutorials cover Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, GoLive, Bridge, Flash, and Fireworks…and they’re awesome. I’ve already used some of his techniques and will embed those videos shortly. But I highly recommend you check out his You Tube channel and website!

IE Tester
One of the more frustrating aspects of web design is getting Internet Explorer to behave the same as other web browsers when using cascading style sheets. IE hacks are usually required if the goal is to have website appearance identical when viewed in all browsers.
Adding to the frustration is that different versions of IE handle requests differently. While attempting to discover a fix for png 24 images in IE 6 and below, I stumbled upon this great tool: IE Tester. It allows you to view your page in several versions of IE without having the browser version installed on your computer.

Google Chrome
Wow! what a clean browser…in desparation I downloaded it last week when Firefox started giving me fits by crashing every 30 seconds…have no idea what the conflict is…
So I’m giving Google Chrome a try. Impressive so far…very clean interface. I’m still playing with it and will keep you posted on any idiosyncracies I come across.
